Sunday Lesson and the Rest of the December Announcements

December Announcements:

Tuesday 1st: Visiting Teaching reports are due. Please, please, please let your supervisor know whether you did it or not, so they can report it to the Relief Society presidency.

Also Samantha D. will be moving and just needs help moving boxes into a truck. If you would like to help meet at the institute at 5:00p.m. before heading over to Samantha's. If you cannot make it to the institute at 5:00p.m., but would like to help, contact Samantha D. or Emily R. for the address.

Wednesday 2nd: Volunteer for the Salvation Army bell ringing. A sign up sheet was passed around today in Relief Society, but flyer's are at the institute for more details.

Friday 4th: Two day YSA activity in Chickasaw chapel at 6:00p.m., bring warm clothes.

Sunday 6th: Fast Sunday

Thursday 10th: Christmas Candlelight dinner at the Hack's home, 7:00p.m.

Saturday 12th: Progressive dinner starting at the Hack's home, 6:30p.m.

Special Announcement:

Choir will now be meeting at 10:00a.m. at the institute, snacks will be provided.

December Announcements

December Announcements:

Tuesday 1st: Visiting Teaching reports are due. Please report whether you have done it or not.

Thursday 10th: Christmas Candlelight dinner at Brother and Sister Hacks' home. This is an elegant affair so no jeans or t-shirts, Sunday dress is appropriate.

Saturday 12th: Ward Christmas party will be held starting at 6:30p.m. This is a Progressive Dinner with three locations that will be visited for threes different meals. See Amanda Sherwood for further details.

As a side note it's that time of year again for tithing settlements. The Bishop will be out of town on the followinf dates, December 6th-16th. Please schedule an appointment with him as soon as possible.

Sunday Lesson, Reminders for November, and Special Announcement

Sunday Lesson:
Today's lesson was number 44 out of the Joseph Smith Manual. It was about the last dispensation, fullness of times, and what that means for us. Thanks to Lizzy for the lesson.

Edit for Stake Conference announcement, the times are as follows:

Saturday 21st at the Stake Center will be the adult session at 7:00p.m.
Sunday 22nd at the Stake Center will be the General Session at 10:00a.m.

Special Announcement:
Today in sacrament the Bishop asked that only those who are investigating the church, new members, ward missionaries, and those who are attending with investigators, be the ones who attend Gospel Principals. If you do not fit into this category, but would like to attend you will need to talk to the Bishop.

Sunday Lesson, November Announcements, and a few for December

Sunday Lesson: Sunday's lesson was given by our Madam President Emily R. It was about visiting teaching and being single. Thanks Emily, it was a great lesson.

November Announcements:

Thursday 12th: Temporal Balance 7:00p.m. at the institute

Friday 13th: Thomas Burden will be getting baptized at 6:00p.m. at the Stake Center. The Hayride that was postponed in October will be after the baptism.

Thursday 19th: Temple Trip for endowed members.

Friday 20th: Gamer Activity 7:00p.m. at the institute. Bring a can of food to participate in our "Tournament of Champions". More cans = more points, dinner will be provided.

Saturday-Sunday 21-22: Stake conference.

December Announcements:

Tuesday 1st Report visiting teaching.

Remiders for October, November Announcements and Sunday Lesson

Sunday Lesson: Today's lesson came from the May 09 issue of the Ensign. It was all about Temples, thanks to Jansen for the lesson.

October Reminders:
Monday 26th: The Pumpkin carving activity at the Hack's. See older post for more details.

Friday 30th: Meet at the institute for hayride at President Key's property. See Rachel Basset for details.

Saturday 31st: Emily Robertson needs some help painting her new home. Meet at her place at 10:30a.m. I do have her address and if you would like it, leave your e-mail in the comments and I will e-mail it to you.

November Announcements:
Sunday 1st: We will still be having fast Sunday, but no testimonies due to ward conference being held as well. Visiting teaching reports are also due that day.

Thursday 5th: Girls night out, eating at McCallister's at 6:00p.m.

Thursday 12th: Relief Society Activity; Temporal Balance 7:00p.m. at the Institute.

October Announcements and Sunday Lesson

Sunday Lesson:

Today's lesson was given by Lizzy D. from the Joseph Smith manual lesson number 42. We had a very good discussion about marriage and equality with your spouse. That was only the tip of the iceberg and we should all read the rest of the lesson. Thanks again to Lizzy D.

October Announcements:

Friday 16th: Service Project at the institute at 12:30p.m. This will replace Friday Forum and they will be taking old plants out and planting new ones. Be prepared to get a little dirty and bring some gloves if you have some. There will be pizza.

Saturday 17th: An OU vs. TX cookout will be held at the institute with the game televised.

Thursday 22nd: Relief Society meeting at the institute at 7:00p.m. This will be on physical balance, more details to come.

Friday 23rd: Stake Relief Society broadcast at the stake center at 7:30p.m.

Saturday 24th: Ward activity at 7:30p.m. will be a drive in movie, viewing in the institute parking lot. Bring blankets, coats, gloves, hats, or things that will keep you warm. Lawn chairs are also optional.

Monday 25th: A mini temple open house for further information on attending contact Robert Simpson or Zack Elledge.

Tuesday 26th: Pumpkin carving at the Brother and Sister Hacks' home. The pumpkins provided for carving are going to be donated. If you would like to carve a pumpkin for yourself you will need to bring your own pumpkin. Also please bring carving knives, the more the better. Food will be provided at the Hacks' home.

Some More September Announcements and Reminders

Sunday Lesson:
Our lesson on Sunday was given by Lizzy and it was number 40 in the Joesph Smith Manual. It was basically about friendship and how it is important. Thanks to Lizzy for the lesson.

September 17th Thursday Temple Trip for Endowed members. Will leave the institute at 6:00p.m. if you would like to carpool.

September 18th Friday Broadway in the park begins with a picnic at 6:00p.m. The shows will start at 7:30p.m. and the group from our ward will be going first. This will be at Andrews Park. September 22nd Tuesday There will be a girls night out going to Mr. Goodman's, a sub shop, at 6:30p.m.

Sometime in September there will be a book club meeting. The book to read is Princess Academy by Shannon Hall. More details will follow, but go ahead and start reading the book if you would like to attend.

Sunday Lesson and September Events

Sunday Lesson:
Today we had our first of the month lesson given by our relief society.It was basically about missionary work and how we should all share the Gospel with others. Thanks to Kate R. for a great lesson.

September Events:

Sunday September 13th there will be a CES fireside at 7:00p.m. at the Norman Stake Center. The speaker will be Sister Elaine S. Dalton, Young Women General President.

Thursday September 17th there will be an Endowment Temple Trip and cleaning. If you would like to carpool meet at the institute at 6:00p.m. Otherwise show up at the Temple at 7:00p.m.

Friday September 18th will be Broadway in the Park. There will be a picnic that starts at 6:00p.m. and the performances will start at around 7:00p.m.

Thursday September 24th there will be an Enrichment Activity at 7:00p.m. at the institute. The activity is a pajama party so keep in mind that your PJ's need to be modest.

Saturday September 26th there will be a General Relief Society broadcast at 7:00p.m. at the Stake Center. You can also watch it live on lds.org.

A Few Side Announcements:

There will be no FHE this week due to Labor Day.

If you are in our performance for Broadway in the Park they are meeting this Wednesday to practice. Contact Sister Hack for further details.

Robert talked to us today about how home teaching is important and we need to hold the brethren to their duty.They should be getting in touch with you by next Sunday. If you have not heard from see someone from the Relief Society Presidency. So this is just a reminder to "harass" or "sweetly invite" your home teachers to teach you.

I've added a new gadget off to the side to be able to post interesting links.

Holyfetch, which consists of interesting myths and urban legends that we've all heard before, from talk favorites to celebrities that are members. It's worth checking out.

The Jenny phillips sight has an area for free downloads in english and some foreign languages. If you looking for some church music, this is the place.

If anybody has some interesting links that are church related, send me an e-mail or post in the comments.

Sunday lesson and then some....

SUNDAY LESSON:
Today we had a great lesson given by Brittany F. all about the relief society, it's organization, and why it's important. It was lesson # 39 in the Joseph Smith manual and here is a quote from the lesson, Sarah Granger Kimball quoting the Prophet Joseph Smith: "I will organize the women under the priesthood after the pattern of the priesthood....The Church was never perfectly organized until the women were thus organized." -Quoted in Sarah Granger Kimball, "Auto-biography," Woman's Exponent, Sept. 1, 1883, p.51

Cookout at the Draytons:

Today! Baptism trip at 6:00pm. Meet at the Institute at 4:45 to carpool. If you're endowed, be sure to bring your whites and temple clothes because you may be asked to participate in a different ordinance.

Aug. 15- BBQ! 4:30 at Bishop's house and then off to the Redhawks game. Be sure and tell LaRee that you want tickets if you haven't already.

Just a blurb on upcoming events:

Aug.1- YSA Conference. It's in Stillwater and goes all day, starting with a service project and finishing with a dance. If you need or want a ride, contact Kate at whoitsthewhatsa@yahoo.com or comment on the post.

Aug. 6- Baptism trip! We'll be leaving at 4:45 from the Institute building. Endowed members stay tuned to find out if we'll be allowed to participate or asked to do another ordinance.

Aug. 15 or 16- Redhawks game. This is a Ward activity. Contact LaRee if you'd like to go so that she can be sure and get you a ticket.
